The people we surround ourselves with have a profound impact on our mindset, our faith, and our ability to step into the life God has for us. I was recently reminded of this during our first session of the 4x4 Coaching Cohort—where the power of the right circle was on full display. One of the participants shared a heartfelt testimony that struck a chord with everyone in the room. She reflected on how this group of women, all gathered for the same purpose, was exactly what she needed to start breaking free from her past and stepping boldly into her future. She realized that God was using this new circle of women to reposition her, to help her remove the roadblocks that had held her back for so long. Her words were filled with gratitude, energy, and excitement, but they also carried a deeper message—one that I believe is relevant to us all: the right circle of people can change everything. Why Your Circle Matters Think about the people you spend the most time with. Are they encouraging you to grow, to pursue your purpose, to live out the calling God has placed on your life? Or are they holding you back, limiting your potential, and keeping you in a place of stagnation? The truth is, we can’t fulfill God’s purpose for our lives in isolation. We need community. We need people around us who will speak life into us, push us when we’re feeling uncertain, and challenge us to step outside of our comfort zones. When Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another,” it’s not just talking about casual relationships. It’s speaking to the kind of deep, meaningful connections that help shape us into the people we are meant to be. A good circle of people won’t let you stay where you are. They will call you higher, not in a way that feels forced or judgmental, but in a way that reflects God’s love and desire for you to grow. Breaking Free with the Right Circle During our coaching session, it became evident that the women in the room weren’t just there for themselves—they were there for each other. There was a divine connection, a shared mission to encourage, uplift, and support one another as they journeyed toward their God-given purpose. And isn’t that what we all long for? To be surrounded by people who truly see us, who understand our struggles, and who believe in our potential even when we doubt it ourselves? The participant who shared her testimony realized that, for the first time in a long time, she wasn’t alone in her struggles. She had found a circle that was not only helping her see her worth but was actively guiding her toward the breakthrough she so desperately needed. And here’s the beautiful part—God often uses the people in our lives to bring about the change we’ve been praying for. Building Your Circle So, how do you cultivate a circle that sharpens you, lifts you up, and helps you grow? Here are a few steps to consider: Seek out alignment in values: Surround yourself with people whose values and beliefs align with your own. These are the people who will encourage you to stay true to your faith and purpose. Be intentional about connection: It’s not enough to just be around positive people. Intentionally nurture these relationships, share your dreams, and be open to accountability. Let go of what holds you back: Sometimes, growing in faith and purpose means letting go of relationships that no longer serve you. It’s not easy, but pruning is necessary for new growth. Be that person for others: Just as you need a strong circle, others do too. Be the friend, mentor, or supporter that someone else needs to move forward in their journey. The Power of a God-Ordained Circle The testimony shared in our first session reminded me of just how powerful God’s timing is. He knows who we need and when we need them. He positions people in our lives to help us heal, grow, and step into our callings. The key is to be open to those connections, to recognize when God is placing the right people in your life, and to lean into those relationships with intention and gratitude. The concept of rest can feel foreign, almost counterproductive. We're conditioned to believe that progress only happens when we're constantly on the move—achieving, striving, pushing forward. Jesus Himself often withdrew from the crowds, seeking quiet moments to pray and reconnect with the Father. In Matthew 11:28, He extends that same invitation to us: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” This isn't just about catching up on sleep or taking a break from work. It’s about laying our burdens at His feet and trusting that He will carry us through. Why We Resist Rest Despite this divine invitation, so many of us resist rest. We live in a culture that glorifies busyness. We measure our worth by how much we accomplish, and we wear our exhaustion like a badge of honor. But God didn’t design us to run on empty. He knows that without rest, we become spiritually and emotionally depleted. That’s why He created a rhythm of rest—starting with the Sabbath, a holy day set aside for renewal and reflection. God knows that when we pause, we can hear His voice more clearly. So, why do we resist? Fear often plays a role. We fear falling behind, losing momentum, or missing opportunities. But the truth is, rest doesn't set us back; it propels us forward. When we allow ourselves to pause, we invite God to refill us with His strength, clarity, and peace. Only then can we truly move forward with purpose. Rest as a Form of Faith Rest requires faith. It’s a deep act of trust in God’s timing and provision. When we pause, we acknowledge that we are not in control—and that’s okay. In fact, it’s in those moments of surrender that we often find the greatest growth. Psalm 23:2-3 reminds us of God’s desire to lead us into peace: “He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.” God doesn’t want us running on empty. He wants us to thrive, to be refreshed, and to walk in the fullness of His grace. In resting, we allow ourselves to step back and see life from a broader perspective. It’s a reminder that the world doesn’t depend on our constant striving. God is at work, even when we’re at rest. Our faith grows in the stillness, as we trust that His plans are unfolding, even when we can’t see them. Practical Ways to Embrace Rest So how can we practically embrace rest in a world that demands so much from us? Here are a few ways to create space for rest and renewal:  Set Boundaries: Protect time in your schedule for rest. Whether it’s a few minutes of quiet in the morning or an afternoon Sabbath, make rest a priority. Spend Time with God: Use your rest periods to reconnect with God. Meditate on Scripture, pray, or simply sit in silence and listen for His voice. Practice Mindfulness: In moments of stress or anxiety, practice being present. Focus on your breath, let go of the worries of the future, and center yourself in the moment. Reflect on Gratitude: Keep a journal and note the things you’re grateful for. This can shift your focus away from what you haven’t accomplished and remind you of God’s blessings. The Gift of Renewal In the end, rest isn’t a reward for having worked hard enough. It’s a necessity, a gift from God that allows us to be renewed and restored. The truth is, God doesn’t just want us to survive; He wants us to thrive. And that thriving often comes from the moments we step away, surrender control, and let God pour into us. So, if you’re feeling weary today, take heart. God is inviting you into His rest. Similarly, in life, the true nature of our trials and triumphs may not be apparent at first glance. Spiritual Discernment As believers, we are called to develop spiritual discernment, the ability to see beyond the physical and understand the spiritual implications of our situations. This discernment comes from a deep relationship with God and a commitment to understanding His word. When God whispers, " Nothing is as it seems ," He invites us to look deeper, to seek His wisdom, and to trust in His sovereign control over our lives. Consider Joseph, sold into slavery by his own brothers—what seemed to be a tragic end was actually a divine setup for saving nations from famine. Or Rahab, whose simple act of hiding spies under flax on her roof was pivotal in the conquest of Jericho. In these stories, the surface-level events masked greater plans orchestrated by God for His purposes. Modern Reflections In our modern lives, we encounter daily situations that may seem daunting or inconsequential on the surface but may hold significant spiritual importance. Perhaps a difficult job teaches perseverance, or a chance encounter leads to a life-changing relationship. By adopting the mindset that "Nothing is as it seems," we open ourselves up to finding God's hand in every situation, ensuring that we are aligned with His will and purpose. The Call to Trust Ultimately, embracing that "Nothing is as it seems" is a call to trust God more deeply. It's a call to believe that He is at work even when we can't see it, that He is orchestrating all things for our good (Romans 8:28). This trust doesn't come easily—it is forged in the quiet moments of prayer, in the days of waiting, and in the acts of obedience that define our walk of faith. Practical Steps for Unveiling Divine Wisdom: Prayer: Spend time in prayer, asking God to reveal the deeper meanings behind your circumstances. Study Scripture: Delve into the Bible to understand how God has worked in hidden ways throughout history. Seek Counsel: Consult with spiritual mentors and wise counselors who can offer insights that you might overlook. Reflect and Journal: Keep a journal of your experiences and the insights you receive as you contemplate the deeper workings of God in your life. "Nothing is as it seems" is not just a phrase—it is a spiritual truth that invites us to explore the depth of God's plans for us. As we seek His face and His wisdom, we learn to navigate life not by sight, but by faith.

Amidst all the turmoil, two simple yet powerful words stand as a beacon of hope and transformation: "I Forgive." These words are not just an act of kindness or a casual gesture of letting go; they represent a profound declaration of freedom, spiritual growth, and renewal. When you say "I Forgive," you are engaging in a sacred act that transcends human understanding. You are not only releasing others from the chains of past wrongs but also freeing yourself from the heavy burden of resentment and bitterness. Unforgiveness can weigh down the soul, creating barriers to the joy, peace, and love that God intends for each of us. By choosing to forgive, you are opening the door to healing—both for yourself and for those who may have wronged you. Forgiveness is a cornerstone of our faith, deeply rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ. He modeled forgiveness through His life, urging us to forgive not just once, but seventy times seven. This commandment may seem daunting, especially when the wounds are deep and the pain is real, but it is through this very act that we reflect the grace and mercy that God has so freely given to us. When we forgive, we allow God's love to flow through us, becoming a living testimony of His boundless compassion and unending grace. It's important to recognize that forgiveness is not about condoning or excusing the wrongs done to us. It doesn't mean forgetting the hurt or pretending that everything is okay. Rather, it is about choosing to move forward in peace and love, without allowing the past to dictate our future. It’s about trusting God to handle justice and finding solace in His perfect will. Discernment: A Divine Compass Discernment is not just a spiritual gift; it’s a necessity. It’s the ability to see beyond the surface, to recognize the truth when everything around us might be pointing in another direction. The enemy is crafty, and false humility is one of the tools he uses to distract and deceive. It can look like righteousness on the outside, but its core is far from the heart of God. We need to pray for discernment, to ask God to open our eyes and ears to His truth. In a world where so much is hidden behind facades, discernment becomes our divine compass, guiding us to make decisions that align with His will. It helps us distinguish between what is of God and what is not, between what brings life and what leads to destruction. Nothing Is as It Seems As we go about our daily lives, we might find that things are not always what they appear to be. The world is in a state of flux, and the certainties we once relied on seem to be shifting. It’s easy to feel disoriented and unsure. But it’s in these moments that we must remember: nothing is as it seems, and yet, God remains the same. The Bible reminds us in Hebrews 13:8 that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” This truth is our anchor. While the world changes, He does not. His promises, His love, and His faithfulness are constant. Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand When the world feels unstable, hold fast to God’s unchanging hand. He is the steady rock beneath our feet, the foundation that will not be moved. No matter what comes our way, we can trust that God is with us, guiding us, and holding us close. As we face the challenges ahead, let’s lean into God’s presence and trust in His unchanging nature. Let us use the discernment He gives us to navigate the uncertainties, and let us hold on to His hand as we walk through whatever lies ahead. Remember, the same God who was with us in the past is with us now, and He will be with us in the future. His love and faithfulness endure forever. It is not uncommon for people to lose sight of the genuine meaning of riches in a society that places such a high value on material belongings and the ability to be successful financially. Yet, because to the fact that we are people of faith, we have access to a different form of wealth: the wealth of the spirit. When it comes to becoming spiritually wealthy, there are a few guiding principles that are essential to keep in mind: Understanding the importance of spiritual wealth: While having a lot of financial wealth may provide momentary pleasure and a sense of security, having a lot of spiritual wealth has the potential to provide us with unending happiness and a sense of accomplishment. We can feel a sense of purpose, meaning, and connection that is greater than the ephemeral pleasures of material items if we cultivate a rich spiritual life and make it a priority in our lives. Putting our spiritual lives first If we want to have a robust relationship with God, we need to make sure that our spiritual lives come first. This requires making time in our schedules for prayer, meditation, and study, as well as looking for chances to serve others and connect with our own religious communities. When we make our faith the focal point of our life, we lay a solid groundwork for our own development and transformation into better versions of ourselves. The cultivation of a thankful attitude is one of the most important steps in having a robust faith, as this practice demonstrates. We cultivate a good mental attitude that enables us to discover joy and contentment in the here and now when we concentrate on the gifts in our life and express gratitude for everything we already possess. Taking on an attitude of simplicity: In a culture that so often places a premium on extravagance and excess, taking on an attitude of simplicity can be a potent method to create spiritual richness. We make more room in our lives for our faith and the relationships we have with other people when we take steps to simplify our lives and concentrate on the things that are truly important to us. According to the scripture in James 2:5, "Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?" Let us make it a goal to have a strong faith, to appreciate the actual worth of spiritual wealth, and to give our faith the highest priority in our daily life. We can feel a sense of purpose and fulfillment that is not contingent on the things that the material world has to provide if we are grateful, if we embrace simplicity, and if we give our religion top importance. Let's work together to develop our spiritual lives and unearth the treasures that lie within the spirit.

Throughout human history, people have recognized the incredible power of the mind to shape reality. From ancient philosophers to modern-day motivational speakers, the idea that our thoughts can influence our experiences has been a constant source of fascination and inspiration. But for those with a strong faith, the power of the mind takes on a whole new level of significance. Believing in a higher power and the spiritual realm can provide a powerful foundation for personal growth and transformation. As the Bible says in Proverbs 23:7, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." So how can we harness the power of our minds and our faith to create the lives we want? Here are a few key principles to consider: Believe in the power of positive thinking. Whether you call it the law of attraction or simply the power of optimism, there is a wealth of evidence to suggest that focusing on positive thoughts and beliefs can help to bring about positive outcomes. As Jesus said in Matthew 21:22, "And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith." Practice mindfulness and meditation. Taking time to quiet your mind and focus on the present moment can be a powerful tool for reducing stress, increasing focus, and gaining clarity. As the psalmist writes in Psalm 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God." Surround yourself with positive influences. Whether it's attending church or spending time with friends who share your values, being part of a supportive community can help to reinforce your faith and your positive mindset. Take action. While it's important to have faith and positive thoughts, it's also essential to take action towards your goals. As James 2:26 says, "Faith without works is dead." So don't be afraid to take risks, try new things, and work hard towards your dreams. By combining the power of our minds and our faith, we can create a life that is full of joy, abundance, and purpose. So take some time today to reflect on your own beliefs and values, and consider how you can use the power of your thoughts to create the life you truly desire. As the Apostle Paul writes in Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."

When it comes to our relationships with others, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day minutiae of our interactions. We focus on the logistics of our relationships - who we're spending time with, where we're going, what we're doing - and lose sight of the deeper purpose and meaning behind our connections. But as people of faith, we have a unique opportunity to infuse our relationships with purpose and intentionality. By connecting with others through a shared belief system, we can cultivate a deep sense of meaning and fulfillment in our relationships. Here are a few key principles to consider when it comes to cultivating purpose in your relationships: Emphasize shared values: Whether it's through attending religious services together or engaging in deep conversations about your faith, finding common ground around your shared values can be a powerful way to deepen your connection with others. When you have a shared understanding of what matters most in life, it becomes easier to navigate the challenges and conflicts that inevitably arise in any relationship. Practice empathy and compassion: When we approach our relationships with a sense of empathy and compassion, we create a space for deep understanding and connection. By putting ourselves in the shoes of others and seeking to understand their perspectives, we can build bridges of empathy and create stronger, more resilient relationships. Serve others together: Serving others is a core tenet of many faith traditions, and engaging in service work together can be a powerful way to deepen your connection with others. Whether it's volunteering at a local soup kitchen or working on a community service project, engaging in service work together can provide a sense of purpose and meaning that strengthens your relationship. Pray together: Prayer is a powerful tool for connecting with others on a spiritual level. Whether it's through sharing prayer requests, engaging in a group prayer, or simply praying for one another individually, prayer can help to create a deep sense of connection and support in your relationships. By infusing our relationships with purpose and intentionality, we can deepen our connections with others and find greater meaning and fulfillment in our lives. Whether it's through emphasizing shared values, practicing empathy and compassion, engaging in service work together, or praying together, there are countless ways to connect with others on a faith-based level. So take some time today to reflect on your own relationships and consider how you can infuse them with a greater sense of purpose and meaning through your faith.  As it says in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up." Let's cultivate purpose in our relationships and help lift one another up on our shared journey of faith.
